Terms

The terms of our work together.

We've written this in plain English. It covers how we quote, schedule, invoice and warrant the plumbing and gas work we do. If anything is unclear, ask us directly before we start the job.

Last updated

These Terms of Service set out the basis on which NJZ Plumbing carries out work for residential and commercial customers. They sit alongside any written quote we provide and the protections you have under Australian Consumer Law.

01Who we are

NJZ Plumbing is a sole-trader plumbing and gas fitting business based in Gisborne, Victoria, run by Craig Boyd and Larissa Boyd.

  • Trading name: NJZ Plumbing
  • ABN: 44 340 884 618
  • VBA/BPC plumbing licence: #48725
  • Insurance: Public liability
  • Contact: info@njzplumbing.com.au · 0456 678 702

02What this covers

These terms apply when you engage us to carry out plumbing, gas fitting, water filtration, drainage, hot water, renovations or related work. The specific scope of any individual job is set out in the written quote we provide for that job.

By accepting a quote (in writing, by email or verbally) you agree to these terms together with the scope and price in that quote.

03Quotes & pricing

We quote in writing for any job above straightforward call-out repair work. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we tell you otherwise.

  • The quoted price covers the scope listed in the quote. Anything outside that scope is a variation, agreed in writing or verbally before we proceed.
  • Where we cannot give a fixed price (for example, a blocked drain where the cause isn't yet known), we charge an hourly rate disclosed before the job and provide an estimate based on what we expect to find.
  • Materials supplied by us are charged at the prices in the quote. If supplier prices change materially before the job, we'll let you know and reconfirm.
  • GST is included in all quoted prices unless explicitly stated otherwise.

04Booking & scheduling

Once you accept a quote we book the work to a date that suits both parties. For emergency callouts (24/7), we attend as soon as we can prioritise based on urgency.

  • You agree to give us safe access to the work area at the agreed time.
  • If access is delayed or denied on the day, additional time on site is charged at our hourly rate.
  • Significant delays caused by other trades, unavailable supplies, or unsafe conditions may require rescheduling.

05Invoicing & payment

We invoice on completion of the job unless otherwise agreed. For larger jobs we may request a deposit or staged payments before commencing or before particular materials are ordered.

  • Payment terms are 7 days from invoice unless agreed otherwise in writing.
  • We accept bank transfer. Other payment methods are by arrangement.
  • Overdue accounts may incur reasonable recovery costs and we reserve the right to suspend further work until accounts are settled.
  • Title in any materials we supply remains with NJZ Plumbing until paid in full.

06Workmanship & warranty

We warrant our workmanship in line with the relevant Victorian plumbing industry standards and the obligations of our VBA/BPC licence. Manufacturer warranties on supplied products (hot water systems, filtration units, fixtures and so on) apply on top of our workmanship warranty and run from the date of installation.

If something we've installed doesn't perform as it should, contact us. Where the issue falls within the relevant warranty, we'll return and rectify at no charge. Where the issue is outside warranty (for example, damage caused by a third party, fair wear and tear, or misuse), we'll quote the repair separately.

07Liability

We carry public liability insurance and conduct work in compliance with the Victorian Building Authority requirements applicable to licensed plumbing.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any single job is limited to either the cost of redoing the relevant work or the price you paid for that work, whichever is greater. This limit does not affect any non-excludable rights you have under Australian Consumer Law.

We're not liable for losses caused by pre-existing faults we've been asked to repair, by third-party products we haven't supplied, or by access conditions outside our control.

08Cancellation & rescheduling

Booked work can be rescheduled by either party with reasonable notice (typically more than 24 hours before the start time) at no charge. Cancellation inside 24 hours of a scheduled start may be charged at a callout fee to cover lost time, particularly where we have ordered specific materials.

09Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or other applicable laws that cannot be lawfully excluded.

If any part of these terms conflicts with a non-excludable consumer right, the consumer right prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
